Hi from hospital! šŸ™ƒ

I’m stuck in a hospital bed waiting for surgery (been here about 26 hrs now 🤪) and boredom has reduced me to writing another blog entry šŸ˜‚

I’ve been experiencing episodes of horrendous pain which is mostly felt in my upper back. This has been happening every few weeks for over a year now and absolutely nothing will ease it...I just have to wait until it passes which is usually about an hour or so.

I was seeing the physio thinking the problem was my back (because that was where I felt the most pain), but I started to realise that my stomach would get very bloated and sore too and I would get nauseous and sometimes vomit. The pains felt similar to labour, but unlike contractions there were no breaks... just constant almost unbearable pain. I thought maybe I was intolerant to something I was eating because the pains would always come on not long after eating dinner. I spoke to my GP and straight away he said it sounded like gallstones and wanted me to get an ultrasound to check. The ultrasound showed that I did indeed have gallstones and if they were to continue to give me grief that I needed to have my gallbladder removed.

So that brings me to here and now šŸ˜…

Wednesday night around 1am the pain started and this time it did not go away! It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt... even worse than giving birth... so after hours of waiting for it to pass, I finally went to hospital and was so grateful to hear they would remove it for me! But it’s been a much longer wait than I expected and definitely not the nice restful night away from Oscar that I sometimes fantasise about šŸ˜‚

Highlight of my time in hospital so far was watching the bachelor finale with my entertaining roommate last night (Oof how painful was it to watch Bella get rejected 😬😬😬) and finally getting to eat a hot meal after fasting all day (hospital food has never tasted so good! šŸ˜‚)

Good news is I’m third on the list for surgery today and hopefully if it all goes to plan I can come home tomorrow! It’s not been nice at all being away from Oscar and Jordan (no visitors because of COVID of course šŸ™„) but I am so grateful I can finally put an end to these painful episodes and at least move on from one difficult aspect of life right now šŸ˜… Now for Melbourne to just get out of lockdown already! 🤪

Deep and Meaningful 2am thoughts

It’s 1:30am and I should be sleeping But I’m wide awake with a million thoughts buzzing around in my head I thought I’d dust off the old blog and type it all out…I enjoy sharing these things with the world Every now and then I scroll back on my old posts and read what “past Jade” had to say about life. I did that this evening and a peculiar thing happened…I feel like it woke up parts of my brain that hadn’t been used for a while… hear me out here, I’m not going cuckoo I swear  šŸ˜… “Past Jade” saw the world differently to “Present Jade”. She was a little more naive and optimistic; her thoughts were lighter, happier, more grateful, more spiritual. “Present Jade” seems to be stuck in some unhelpful and unpleasant thought patterns. Life feels heavy and I often feel overwhelmed and unenthused…focused on my problems, not my blessings. Looking back on my life through “Past Jade’s” eyes made me think about things a little differently; challenging the gloomy and self-deprecating thoug...

Round and round

I seem to be stuck in a cycle… I’ll be “on top of things” ticking off my to-do list, feeling like things are finally starting to “get better”… Then I start slipping into familiar, unhelpful patterns and get I stuck there, feeling weighed down by life and like nobody understands me or knows how to support me. I’ve put a lot of time, effort and money into trying all sorts of therapies, methods and products that are intended to help me “heal”: Psychologists, life coaches, self-help books, medications, herbal medicines, journallin g, affirmations, yoga & meditation- I feel like I’ve tried everything! But nothing really sticks.  Some things help for a while but I inevitably “give up” and slide right back to where I was at the beginning. It’s incredibly frustrating. It’s hard for me to see any progress when I keep going round in circles.  I know that recovery is a life long journey, that there’s not a “magic pill” that will solve my problems, but it’s hard not to feel discourage...

What do you believe?

Intuition, conscience, guidance, gut-feeling... Which ever way you choose to describe this phenomenon, it is essentially the same thing. I have had many experiences in my life where I have been guided by this feeling; Moments where my mind and heart have felt inspired by something greater than myself. I believe that this guidance is from God. That those feelings come from the Holy Spirit. The idea that I am watched over by a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for me just feels right. These are my beliefs, but I am absolutely open to and accepting of other people’s beliefs. I would never say to someone that I was right and they were wrong. I love to hear what others believe in and what the meaning of life is to them.  Rather than focus on differences, I like to find the commonalities within our beliefs. I have a good friend who, like me, enjoys talking about these kinds of things. We have very different beliefs, but there are so many things that we agree on. There are a lot of ne...
